At Climb On Learning Project, we connect academic intervention and transformative outdoor experiences to help Colorado students discover and achieve their goals.
Our organization utilizes a 3-part support structure based on the Colorado Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) framework outlined by the Colorado Department of Education.
Our Approach
We partner directly with schools to identify students for whom our program would be best. Then, our organization works directly with teachers, counselors, administrators, and other members of the school community on a daily basis to create a close, effective circle of support for our students.
Transformative Outdoor Experiences
Climb On students get into the outdoors for transformative experiences on a weekly basis during the school year. These experiences are designed to be challenging, novel, and perspective-shifting. Our goal is for students to build a sense of "If I can do that, I can do anything." This helps students develop long-term confidence that they can implement in many aspects of their lives beyond school.
Closed Loop of Support
Climb On Learning Project works within the structures already designed by a school site, not outside of them. This means that the mentor that supports students in a Climb On learning program at a school site works directly with teachers, counselors, administrators, and other school site staff to understand and provide the exact supports students need to be successful in their particular schools.
Mentorship and Goal Setting
Students, in partnership with their Climb On mentor, build specific progress and achievement goals for the course of each school semester and year so that they can see their own progress and celebrate their achievements. For some students, these goals may just be around getting to school every day, completing a minimum amount of homework, or engaging with counseling sessions authentically each week. Each student gets to define success for themself.
